    I got it!

After months of working angles and trying to work out an arrangement i finally did it. I am now the sole receiver of all computer towers that come into a 2 town landfill. The arrangement is that i get all the towers FREE! after i get done stripping them for what i need i bring the steel back to the dump so they can make a little money as well Not bad IMO. Best part about this is it is my own town landfill that i finally got this deal through so when i drop off my trash and steel i pick up my towers. brought home 15 today and frank the head guy at the landfill said expect at least 10-20 a week no problem. Also put a bug in his head about ABS plastic so hopefully i can have a source to recycle this as well without having to save up a ton or more at a time he was interested in the plastics because of all the kid toys they get and i told him about a few buyers down south hopefully this will pan out as well. I have to admit i almost gave up on this have been to all landfills in 50 mile radius and most of them have either a buyer or they strip them down themselves so i consider this account a 1 in 1000 chance
    And perseverance has paid off.
    Today was a good day!

Well a big congratulations to you. Nice to know persistence can still pay off. Sounds like something that I am trying to get with a few of the counties around me.

good luck! If the landfill has an outlet for them already you might have to buy out the competition. Also go to your town hall and let the money people know how much they can make in a year selling to you. I have been to all the town halls and most said you need to put in a bid for removal services and you better have all state mandated paperwork ready to show you are a real business and a recycling company with little to no waste. They don't want to deal with joe scrapper they want to deal with a buisiness that makes their town some money.

Good advice as always Sir! i will follow it after i get done with my case of suds! tonight I celebrate tomorrow i see a lot of work to be done and much more to come this will hopefully be the steady stream of computers i have been looking for! Between my scrap bucket pickups and this i should have more than enough to keep me busy on a weekly basis!

Just be careful. If NH DES finds out you may get a visit. Biggest thing you need is a nice paper trail on where items are going.

Oh I know that. I have an incorporated business and paperwork and insurance in line. Nobody wants to deal with a "joe scrapper" which is why I never "look the image" of a joe scrapper. Right down to the embroidered shirt and matching signage on the truck. I also already personally work at a 95% no waste and keep just a paper trail of my local buyers. Just being registered in Illinois as a collector means they alsi want to know where its going. Thanks for the advice though. Its always welcome.

Thanks bpatone. But let me assure you i have had a nice talk with them already. Nice people to work with they were more than happy to let me know exactly what i needed to do paperwork wise and training/ licensing its all paperwork and fee's but it pays to do it right and not get fined thanks for the concern. like i said in the OP i have been at this for months and it has finally paid off.

Hope you keep us posted. And hope you find some good stuff.

I know that NH is possibly trying to do a state wide contract on ewaste like VT is doing and it will be harder for the small people like us to get anything since all recycling centers would be taking electronics for free instead of having to charge people for electronic recycling.

Yes I absolutely agree with that and i'm sure it will pass without much trouble. one of the reasons why i went to all the trouble of trying to do this arrangement. Hopefully even with law changes I will still be able to do my pickups and cross my fingers actually increase MY pickups tremendously when the flood of free towers come into the landfill! As long as they don't have a paying outlet for the material it is not to hard to work it out otherwise its basic bid contracts usually two or three years. The state wide ban on ewaste in landfills has left some town dumps in rural areas stuck with material they don't know what to do with. This is where we can come in with a little SMF knowledge and be able to make some money. I am sure this arrangement will only last so long until I will eventually put a bid on it. someone is bound to find another outlet paying more than shred for them but for now i'm riding high.
