    bailbondsmen source of cars

ive put this on here before in other threads but decided to put on of its own. we have one bailbondsman that we deal with a few times a week. I had to ask questions as I didn't know how it worked, but they take in items for collateral when the people they bail out don't have the money to do so. after a certain amount of time passes the items they put up are forfeited and they are able to sell them. im getting a minimum of two cars a week from them at below scrap prices, I give them a quote and they take my quote off the amount that is owed to them, just a guess but I bet ive gotten over 50 this year just from this source. they have also hired me to move nicer quality cars for them and even help them at auctions. I even went with them one night on someone that had jumped bail(pretty exciting) and have several times went with them at night to the jailhouses in our area . an extra source of money after hours but the main thing is the cars. these are the two I got today from them 600 for the pair to give you an idea. the dodge was outa gas, put a new battery on it and gassed it up it fired up after about 15 seconds

expect the worst and hope for the best

Got yourself a nice truck there Cory. What are you doing with it?
Noticed you backed that truck on, good idea keeping the weight at the back.

Those Dodge trucks are really wide, pulled one of my parts trucks with my car dolly, it also was the 5.9 4x4. She was really maxed out the front wheels were beyond the ramps, on the frame, won't do that again. Didn't feel comfortable doing that.Hauled an f-150 last week, Dad needed to take it to the shop with starter problem, was much easier to haul it compared to the Dodge.
Soft spot for the Dodge, hope you keep'er.

its always best to pull it on forwards, but in this business you have to take them the way they are dealt to you and this one was pulled up against a fence, mechanic likes to say the tail wagging the dog and he is correct, if you have more weight at the back of the trailer it will tend to push you around so you have to take it easy

yep we gonna keep her, even if we weren't these old dodges we strip pretty good as the interior parts and body panels all fit my diesels, we gotta do some title work and put some tires on her and I think she will be ready to go. it doesn't even have a crack in the dash which is unusual

yep its the same model 94-01 lotsa parts out there. I would fix it up looks like at least a 2000$ bill if not more. Paint is also pretty decent. Bumper and fender should not be too hard to find, even in the right colour.
I bought new fenders for mine, 100$ each.
Those trucks up here are pretty rusted out most of the time. Body parts without rust fetch a pretty penny here.

On my 3/4 ton camper hauler (I had 2 at one time) I used rear tires that were 2" wider, they were like a 285/16 and had a 8 ply sidewall.
That eliminated the trailer "wagging" the tail of the truck, the sidewalls were stiff.
If you have a long ways to go hauling, spend a few extra bucks and get a set of load levelers bars for you trailer. With them you can adjust the amount of tongue weight. Here's 2 different styles.

The smaller silver rod along the frame is a sway bar you can get at camper stores. These set-ups will allow you to run down state roads and have a semi coming at 60 mph and not so much as a squiggle out of the trailer, it goes where you put it.

Sorry for the hijack, but it is kind of relevant.

Superdave: Look up Etrailer.com, they are a bit more "rare", but they DO make systems that allow for use with Surge Brakes!
