Any Interest in Mobile Homes in SE Georgia (near Jacksonville, FL)

I've been reviewing the forum and have found mixed reactions to mobile homes, so I thought I'd post in case anyone is interested...

We purchased a mobile home park earlier this year and evicted some residents who left their homes behind. They couldn't sell them because of title issues. We've received a court order to allow us to remove/demo them. There are 3 now, possibly more to come. Two were manufactured in the 70s and one is a 1983 model. All have metal siding and roofs. They're cleaned out (no trash inside). Tongues are on the frames, but I don't think they have axles (not sure).

We're willing to get a dumpster if someone wants to scrap them for the metal. The location is Kingsland, GA - about 20 miles North of Jacksonville, FL, just offf I-95 at exit 3. There's a possibility that we could have a friend with a backhoe knock the walls in if that would help.

I used to be a assistant manager of a park and bought a trailer off a tenant that wanted to get out of there. She only wanted $400 for the home. I decided to scrap it out and since I worked for the park, I used their dumpster to get rid of everything but the scrap. I easily doubled my money from it. In my experience around here in WI, most trailers are going to a non-copper water line. But I was able to sell the furnace and water heater back to the park for a little bit of money. If you were located near me, I would jump on this.

Seems the opinion of many of the threads about mobile homes is to charge some $$ in order to make it worth while.

My reading of threads is one of the biggest issues is disposal of the non metal material. Since the person posting this has stated that a dumpster would be provided it seems more likely to be profitable. Mike.

I met a guy that did a lot of them in TN, He'd charge several hundred dollars each besides the metal. I just can't remember now exactly how much, it could've been anywhere from 300, to 6 or 700. These were in the country too, where he could just have a big burn pile. They'd remove the siding by backing out all the screws, take a chainsaw and walk around the outside cutting the wall studs at the base, then pull the whole thing over and remove the roofing. The trailer frame they'd cut up with a saws-all

    mobile home scrapping

in my opinion it is one of the lower end values, considering the time invested and getting rid of the waste products. most I ever got out of one was about $800 and had to split with 2 workers. that was with alu siding andcopper pipes. the up side is, for some one new it is a great learning experience, you will learn a lot, consider it6 a tech scool in scrapping. I think every one should do at least one for the experience. sort of like required hands on tech training.
