    Lightbulb retirement homes

retirement homes could possibly be a good source of scrap, particularly ewaste. I haven't done this yet, but figured id share and maybe get some info from someone who has. A few weeks ago i picked up a small load from an older gentleman at a retirement home. He didnt live there, but was visiting a friend who did. I gave him my card before i left, and he mentioned that everyone in the home was probably watching us in the parking lot cause they dont have much else to do lol. He said hed spread the word there, and that alot of the folks would be glad to know that they have a way to get rid of their old electronics. I havent gotten any calls yet from there, but places like that could be a good source for someone willing to do the marketing.

I'm sure there is some stuff to be had so keep working that angle...but the time to get them is BEFORE they move to the old folks home, when they live in a bigger place and have been hoarding stuff for decades.

I have a very large retirement place that I pick-up at. (150 people) 80% of what I get from there is crt tv's and monitors. I have to take the bad to get the good.

Is there any money at all in that stuff, the CRT TVs and monitors? Break them down for the internal components?

I don't break them down. I pay someone $1 each to dispose of them. He can have whatever he gets out of them. I believe it is typically a few dollars. They are very hard to get rid of in Wisconsin. Just punch it in on the search function on the forum. Lots and lots of discussion on it.
