I have been watching this gov surplus auction site for things to scrap near me.
Found one that would be nice if i lived in AZ. It is an auction of 7 lots of 30 hard drives.

Nothing in my area but will keep this link for sure!
Thanks
That's a great link thanks.
I wish they shipped. I havent seen one yet that said they would.
Yeah stuff on there is all over.
yeah +1 on the shipping, they would make a killing if they did that. although i was on another auction site like that scored 35 crt monitors for $5.00!!! hahha only downfall is i have to drive 50miles to get them... but i also won about 40 cpu towers too so that should be a nice profit on ebay,.
Nice site to find. Nothing much for Illinois area, but yeah, like the others said, I will keep an eye out on this.
Man i cant believe none of you guys new about that site lol.
The only reason i found it was i was looking around my states page looking for state auctions and they had this link.
Here's a link for some of us guys and gals in the Mid-Atlantic regions. http://asset-auctions.assetnation.com/
i am in az. i have never scrapped hard drives before. are they worth it?
There are several such sites all over the US.
Here is one of my favs;

Some of them will ship, but on the whole, it isn't worth the extra cost, SO, buy locally.
Be prepared to travel and for me 50-60 miles isn't that far, when I am making a deal for a quick $200-300 return.
The boards are good as well and can bring a good return @ the right spot.
The discs have a small amount of platinum on them and can fetch a fair price on Ebay, but you will need to have several pounds to make it worthwhile for a refiner to buy.
I bought on there a couple of times and doubled my money in just a few hours. Yes, sometimes the lots go pretty high. I only posted the link, as often times there may be stuff going cheap in someone else's state, whereas, I can't get to it for logistical reasons.
I bought a deal last week for $205 and sold it for $400 by days end and still have part of it to sell.
i buy from GD all the time, from nj,pa,md ill travel no problem, been buying since 2010 majority good items sometimes not so good/nice gotah keep an eye out,,,
ps also check out www.govliquidation.com
good stuff
The electronics is just catching on here in connecticut, and man, thee is a scrap metalscrap metalscrap metalscrap metalload of stuff they want. Also, to my surprise, was this yard I deal with just started looking for carbide bits....like end mills, or drill bits, and having workrf in a machine shop, I have a pretty decent pile going. hey, they,re giving $5.00/lb which is not bad at all.
But getting back to the electronic stuff, if ya have a lot you should do real well with the stuff.
Yes and GSA Auction site, but again, prices can be a bit high, depending on where you are.
JerseyScrapper, there is some really good deals in DC on :
http://www.liquidation.com/
Look in the Store Fixture category and there is some GOOD DEALS. I just wish they weren't so far from SC,lol !
Good Luck!!
nice catch, got my eye out on a couple auctions, THANKS! , hey SC has some crazy items going on @ G.D, i was anxious today when the auctions were endind, i just wanted to click the mouse and outbid whoever was buying cause i passed alot of fair priced items in SC because it was a little to far for me...god i wish these sites could/would assist in shipping i email so many of them and told them to offer it,,,, cause they sure are losing on massive $$$$$ without that shipping, (some in jersey offer it, but i live about 40 min from those that ship and that does not benefit me ugh!!!) FAIL!
