    Stumbled upon a money pit..

Well I've been dating this girl for almost 8 months, and her grandma is 85 years old and only lives about 10 minutes away. Like i said before i live in a pretty rural area and her grandmas house is out in the country, she has lived there since 1945. My girlfriends cousin lives there too he's 28 years old, and im pretty good friends with him. We were shooting our bows yesterday at his house and he lost an arrow. So we were looking for it, and when i walked over the hill i noticed thousands of pounds of old metal that people used to dump there, im talking old cars, farm equipment, random metal, copper pipes from old plumbing, appliances, aluminum siding and tons of other stuff and thats just what i could see from about 20 feet away, we havent even touched any of it yet. So next tuesday im taking my truck and trailer with my 4-wheeler that has a 50 ft wench on it, and a sawzall. Were going to start on it at 8:30 in the morning and work all day, theres more stuff than 2 guys can handle in 1 day. We will get the truck and trailer loaded first and start making runs to the scrap yard at about 2:00 since they close at 5:00. We will probobly be working on it all day Wednesday as well. Probobly my best find yet, just cant wait until Tuesday to get my grimy paws on that rusted gold. 50/50 split between me and him should be fairly profitable.

For a true 50/50 split don't forget to reimburse the person (you or your GF cousin) who is paying for the gas before you do the split.

That's a consideration always. I get requests to "split the ticket" for stuff I pick up. Just got one today that'll be several tons of #1 Iron. I have had these before and this is what I do. I'll offer to pay 1/2 of the scrap yard price if they'll sell the stuff to me or deduct the cost of the gas from the ticket; then split the remainder 50/50. By selling it to me, they save the cost of the gas. Actually, I prefer to buy the stuff. That allows me to sort, hold and maximize profits.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
