    sheetz, gas pumps.

noticed the sheetz gas station in my neighborhood is loaded down with new gas pumps ready to be installed, havent seen a contractor yet. The outside of the old ones are mostly plastic, a little bit of tin,and aluminum... some brass fittings, stainless hose where the lines come in. dont know whats on the inside but i figure theres atleast 3 goodsize motors/pumps cause theres 3 lines coming in and 3 at the actual pump and a decent amount of wire... has anyone delt with anything like this before? in your experience do they throw them out or haul them away?

At the station I usually fill up at, they've told me there's one "pump" that's common to all the hoses. Not sure if it's one pump period, or one pump per type of gas, but it's not like there's individual pump/motor setups at each hose.

Couple of stations I frequent, you can hear the motors running in the lower half of the pump.

A 1930s gas pump is worth alot more than scrap. Sell it on ebay.

My company makes the explosion proof motors for Gilbarco (gas pump company) and each motor has two very heavy aluminum endframes about 3 lbs. each. You'll need to pull out a couple of roll pins from them. The motor winding is about 2.5 lbs of copper.

Gas pump motors are well worth the time to pick them out.
