    Suprisingly valuable water pump.

I found two very heavy & looked like cast iron, water pumps.
    These sorts, separate motor.

I got them home & checked them, hmm brass. Removed the steel (just the shaft & bolts).
Took them into the scrappers, turned out they were a special bronze - $80 each!

I think those are also made to handle acids, and very hot liquids.

The pumps do a good job and have surprising durability but the impellers don't last long.
We buy electronic scrap, Gold Karat scrap, gold filled, refined gold, silver and many other item's.

Red brass and bronze are two different alloys.

I looked up the pump I found and it is an Oberdorfer pump made in NY. Solid bronze!

Probably Ampco Bronze, it is a proprietary alloy used for auto and plumbing parts.

1st post - no way! Brass? that's great. I attempted to take one of these apart a few hours ago but gave up. I will definitely give it another go, hopefully my local scrap yard is that nice to me!
