That is a very interesting eBay find but 20 tons of scrap metal scares me to death and I wonder how they know if it's actually 20 tons?

Very interesting, I am going to watch this to see how high it goes, at 20 ton at my current prices of $200 a ton the value is about $4,000, lets see how high the Ebay morons put it.

Before I even clicked the link I knew it had to be the NY surplus auctions. They sell piles of scrap like that on a regular basis and assuming their weight estimates are correct they always sell for more than what you'd get taking it to a scrap yard. I assume the yards themselves are bidding on it.
I just had never seen this. I would have assumed that they would have the means to scrap it themselves even if they didn't sort it
I've seen this a lot in NYS DOT. I don't know if it is in their SOP or what, but they always seem to auction off their scrap. Tends to sell for a lot so maybe they got it right.
I was excited because a lot was selling about 10 minutes from my house and I thought I might bid on it. If their weight estimation was correct it sold for like $300/ton.
But thats if you didn't sort it right? I mean could you break it down, and get more for your money. But your prob right. The yards themselves could of afford to pay more. so they prob do bid on it
Yeah your right! @ssclowns!!!
look at this one... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Recycling-Fa...item2569d5e0ef
Yea, buy it now for 1.5 million. That is only 7,500 tons (15 million lbs) worth of shread to come up with that.
