nice day today clear and sunny, we only worked a couple hours, done some clean up then got to cutting. the smaller blade worked like a charm we went ahead and cashed in the cylnders we cut $178 :) not bad for 2 hrs. gotta work the next two nights was off last night, so no more scrapping for me till sunday afternoon unless we get a call for a car.
You may want to look around or ask if you really have to cut them in half. I was told that was necessary by one yard but now all I ever do to any tank I bring in; fire ext, co2, oxygen, propane,etc is remove the valve the scrap yard just needs to be able to see a hole in the tank.
i know the two closest to me required it, and most of the smaller yards in the smaller communities sell to where i do, but i will make some calls on monday i guess i might get lucky
Sounds like if your going to be doing this many of them you need to invest in a sheer and just sheer them in half :)
i do have a bocat excavator with aux hyd, internet search :)
lol aint gonna happen skid steer solutions 22000, cat also has a model but it will be at least double, after we do get done with the tanks we still get to process the nozzels thats where our brass will be :)
I was thinking more along the lines of a homebuilt log splitter kind with a more powerfull ram is all. Build it with a small cage at the end to hold the extinguisher and hit the button let the ram cut threw it rinse and repeat. Just an idear.

lol its a bandmill like a bandsaw except it works horizontal instead of verticle, they SHOULD just fall to the side. gonna call my partner in a few hours and see what he thinks
EDIT. sawmill wouldnt start put the battery on the charger but the solenoid might have been sticking, knocked the handles outa bout 30 extinguishers today that was all my alum unless some are mixed in w the steel

the throat wasnt wide enough :( gotta go with the 799 model at harbour freight if i go that route, i got sum 7/64 chopsaw blades made by dewalt i cut over 20 of them with one blade(9in alum ones ) we are really leaning towards that everlast plasma cutter, the only bad thing ive seen on them is the post above

lol, you would need to be an expert to run those, one slip and you would ruin a blade
Google everlast plasma cutters. You will find several fabricator, 4x4, and welding forums. Best I can tell the machines had a lot of problems in 08/09 or thereabouts from junk mosfets. Everlast claims the factory changed mosfet suppliers and went with a cheaper unit without Everlast's knowledge, which supposedly caused this influx of junk machines. Who knows if this is factual.Quote:

Regarding the warranty. I thought it was 5 years, but something I saw in their forum by a salesman says they are 3 years with the option to up it to 5 (more money, of course). So based on that the 3 year rivals just about any other manufacturer out there.
Someone said to buy American. Sorry to say but I bet even Miller, Hypertherm, Lincoln, etc. plasma machines have Chinese components. Just the way it is with a global economy.
