But with the band saw you set one up to cut in the vise and let gravinty do the work for you while your breaking down something else.
i got tired of cutting the tanks in half so i started working on the nozzles today
heres a pic with the handles stuck to the valves i forgot to take pic with the tubes still on
took some trial and error but i ended up grinding the rivets and hitting the handle with the hammer.
alum tubes
stainless steel handles
brass valves (heavy)
anyway worked a couple hours made a little over 70 dollars, ive got hundreds still to cut in half and even more nozzels to break down, suppose to get another load next week
All from the same person?
yep, we havnt even checked the other two companies yet, my friend that owns this company says at least one of the others will give them to us and he wasnt sure about the other one
Did you ever find a faster way to cut the tanks in half?
we have been using the 7/64 dewalt chopsaw blades, they work really well, you can get a contractors pack of 15 at lowes for a little over 80 bucks.
I wanted to say thank yo to corycouch for this post. THe email I sent out on this back in late january finaly paid off. I just got an email from a companyhere in denver that just ants to get rid of the extinguishers they have. I have a question for you though corycouch. What do I do with the powder from an ABC extinguisher?
also wanna say thank you picked up a few today. and the guy said he would call me weekly for more
PTS- you have a couple of options with the chems. You can bag it up and put in trash as its not a hazardous material, you can offer it back to the company you get the extinguishers from, or I think someone posted that their local F.D. uses it for some kind of training. Right now we are bagging it up and it goes into the trash. Dont know what your set up is but if you have the land you can just dump it or spray it out of the ones that still have some pressure in them and wash it away with a hose. Like I said its not hazardous, you can check it out by printing out the msds sheets through google.
