    Simply Ask!!!

    Hello Everyone:

I'm sure this in in here somewhere, but you merely just need to ask. I am new to scrapping and don't know very much, but here is my experience yesterday.

I was up at the local convenience store yesterday and have a quick conversation with the clerk behing the register. She said, "...you normally have a suit on when you come in here, are you at homeworking in the yard." I said, "...I'm glad you asked, even though I am an engineer and I make a nice income, even so, it sometimes does not make the end from the middle...so, I scrap metal on the side."

She said, "...hey, the local authorities have been giving me trouble because I have an old sink in my backyard, you are welcome to come take it, let me give you may address...you may need to have someone come with you because it is about 10 ft. wide."

Well, all I can say is just ask!!!

That is a good point! If you don't ask you will get nothing!

Old Chinese proverb , '"He who asks questions is fool for five minutes, He who don't is fool for life."
When the white man discovered this country Indians were running it
no taxes, no debt, women did all the work.
White man thought he could improve on a system like this. - Old Cherokee saying

I did not surrender, they took my horse and made him surrender. - Lone Watie

An excellent proverb indeed! My useless fact of the day is that the word 'arrogant' literally means 'one who does not ask' (Latin)

Ouch. Hope she doesn't snoop on your posts....otherwise that post would be considered a tree breaka, not a tree shaka. Sorry, couldn't resist a lil cajun poke for those who may watch swamp people. I admit it, i watch. No offense intended skyline

None taken. Gotta admit, I watch it too. And I'll admit much of the show is realistic. But there is more to Louisiana than what the "swamp people" show. Heck, we got aireoplanes, choo choo trains, n dem fancy auto-mo-byles in dah big city. But dey never shows dat kinda stuff! lol

Well, I suggested that you simply ask for stuff. I have done that and the landslide has begun. I have told all the people where I work to just bring anything to me they don't want that has a chord attached to it or is made of metal. Well, I go outside for lunch and I have to walk past my truck to get food. From a distance a see a protrusion coming from my truck bed. I get close to my truck and there are 11 tvs in the back of my truck and some other stuff.

You say, that's cool...well, I work on a military installation and now I am probably going to have to try and explain why I have all these electronics in the back of my vehicle when I exit the installation. Good God, and then I have to try and find a way to get rid of the tv sets. If it were not for the tubes I would be ok, everything else I can recycle or know someone who recycles it, except for the tv tubes.

So, if you are going to do the same thing (which I highly encourage because it produces more scrap), be careful giving your workers free will to just put stuff in the back of your truck, hehe!!!
