No dumpster diving signs

My main income from scrapping is cans. I pick at least four apartment complexes a day. My beef is one of them was a honey hole. I could pick at least 100,150 a day. Now they put a sign up saying basically no picking.What if I keep doing it, what could they do?

if you tell a child "do not touch" why would we as adults want to keep going on someones property, when we have been told "do not touch?" I would see if you can get permission, and if the answer is no, look for another honey hole. Good luck and God Bless, BroJer

Talk to the complex manager. Also leave a card and offer to haul away any metal left behind by tenants moving out.

I have found when a sign like that goes up, they generaly mean they don't want EVERY BODY dumpster diving. that is noT the same as nobody dumpster diving. As mentioned above approach the manager in the appropriate dress and in a business like maner, and explain to him you are a proffesional recycler and will make his life easier. Always provide some benifit to the potential customer, other wise, there is no incentive for him/her to do business.

They will come over and tell you not to come back.
IF you act intelligent and polite, they might give you a bunch of old metal dish-washers, refrigerators, washing machines,
and dryers.
Which IS EXACTLY what happened to me.

Anyway, as I've stated before, "Tresspassing" is sort of a funny charge since it has to involve "Malicious Intent"...
Other words, if you have a "friend" there , or somebody etc., or an employee driving a golf cart/work van ("the white color work van"") (who just left))
Then it's no "biggie" ...Anyway it's not gonna be like yur sellin creck to support yur grandmas, or stealing.
(To buy 20,000$ spinny rims or such)...
so what I'd tell you is keep on screppin' anyway.

I'm in Columbus also. Malicious intent is not a requirement to fit the criteria for trespassing in the eyes of the law. Private property is private property and deserves the same respect you expect at your own dwelling. I work at an apartment complex. The scrappers that come out and think the only proper dis-assembly tool for a TV is a hammer don't last long. Same things goes for those that show up at 6:00 in the morning and think nothing of banging a hundred aluminum cans off of the asphalt.
I save my water heaters etc; in a garage for two different scrappers that are Quiet, Clean up after themselves, and don't act like it's their God given right to be there.
I'm a parttime scrapper, HVAC and plumbing fixtures primarily, so I've stood on both sides of the fence. A little common courtesy would go a long way towards opening doors, or at the very least maintaining avenues that are open now. Those signs went up for a reason, once again many now pay for the actions of a few.

I, too wwork as a service manager at a apartment complex. I know how to respect the property and the people who lve there.I don't make any noise or leave a mess. In fact I pickup alittle around the dumpster for them just to make them think is not me. I have scrappers come in my complex and I don't say anything to them cause they respect my propety.
I'm just a parttime scapper too. So I will just have to find another place to find my cans.

Trespassing is trespassing, you can tell the cop your just trying to make a dollar on your way to jail. It's going to take alot of cans to pay the fine.

No, I do appliances.I will put an ad out for junk appliances pickup. Just started doing tvs,computers and crts.

Again, I would contact the business owner, and in a professional manner explain the benefits of what you do for the enviroment.
