get the girl and the scrap? not sure how to approach this one

So i started dating this girl about a week ago weve been hanging out a lot which has been cutting into my scrapping time but i really like this girl...(i actually didnt go to a very profitible bulk trash night cus she wanted to go out friday night....). not a big deal cus i have a full time job..
She lives one a very old small farm with her mother and 2 sisters just outside of town ive been there a few times to pick her up/drop her off and theres definitly some items ive seen from the driveway that are junk and she breifly brought up in conversation that the previous owners left "a lot of old farm stuff" there, one of there barns has a lot of antiques in it, 2 old horse drawn carraiges and some other items. I was drooling when i saw a massive stainless steel furnace in the backyard that looked like it hasnt been used in a very long time.
She knows i work full time and have a llc i own mostly recycling electronics but we havent really discussed scrap at all. Never really had to ask someone that i knew about scrapping there stuff, Im thinking my best move is to get her to give me a tour of the place one day, i plan on reimbursing her family in some way wether it be through other labor or cash for any scrap i get and maybe i can teach her to be a scrapper ... hopefully it all works out.

Use her for her scrap then leave her and move on to the next one lol.

You missed a bulk trash night for a "date"??

(This from a woman who considers cruising bulk trash nights a date in themselves.) lol

Seriously time to open up a little and be honest with her...and make some points with her mom maybe for "cleaning up the yard".

maybe i can teach her to be a scrapper ...
Get the scrap before you do. Otherwise she might dump you and scrap it out herself...

Seriously...Sounds like there is more than $350 sitting around. Ask her parents what their plans are for the items you've mentioned. Let them know that while you work Full Time, you also run a recycling and recovery business on the side. KEEP HER OUT OF IT.....This should be a deal between you and her parents.

I would ask her how to approach them, and whatnot, but don't put her in the MIDDLE. Offer a split with them, and let her know that you're building a business, and there will be some nights you can't hang out because of work. If she's a keeper, sharing your hopes and dreams is important. If her dad's a farmer, he may appreciate your work ethic......My $0.02

I see two opportunities here. A woman and money. I tell everyone what I collect. I have been married 23 years my wife says have fun and bring home X when I go out. Got her some nice things picking.

Gotta go with the honesty approach. Bring up that you recycle on the side for extra money plus it makes you feel better saving the environment. May actually score a few extra points with her and the family.

my wife and i (when we were dating) would go on dates for groceries. i'd take her and the mom out for coffee, explain that you collect/process/sort metal for salvage and that it's a legitimate business. since you enjoy spending time with her daughter offer to work on a precentage so that time isn't a factor. if the scrap is there and they want it gone a minimal precentage is the way to go. too many people have the idea that it is all about getting stuff for free and selling it, but that is like judging a iceberg by what's above the water. what works best for me is the first $100 covers my expenses (gas, propane, O2,cutoff discs, ect.) and then 15% of the remainder. and i am upfront with the values of the different items so they will have a idea of what is in it for them. with this approach i've made more than i could imagine. and more than i ever did with free stuff.

who knows that maybe the money that pays for your wedding...

My wife and I have been married for almost 5 years. She loves what I do with the whole recycling business. Just the other day, she went through all the junk I had on my trailer, and ended up getting probably close to a $1,000 in clothes, shoes, purses, and so forth.

Just be honest with her, and let her family know what you do, and work out a deal with them.
