    Always ask for refferals.

Last week I went to pick up a small load of e-scrap. The guy was really cool, went through a bunch of boxes and I bought some Hdd's, MB, and a little RAM. Will maybe make $30-$40 for the stop which wasn't out of the way. While there he told me about a buddy that he buys parts from. I got his number and called him.

Going out later this week and picking 20 pounds of RAM! Plus a bunch of misc. other parts.

Also got a lead for an auto recycler who has a mountain of e-waste that iis just sitting in a pile. Going out there same day. Hope to work a deal. Already day dreaming about a mountain of old 486 machines.

The lesson I learned... Always ask for refferals.

    Curbside dryer

I was on my way home and passed a dryer on the front porch of a guy. I stopped to ask him if i could take it. Then he says sure that will save us from paying someone to haul it off. So i thought dang I should have said i'll haul it off for 5 bucks just joking like i'll make five bucks in scrap. And he couldve given me an extra 5 bucks out of his pocket. Oh well he did put on his shoes and help me lift the thing to my tail gate. But dang i really should have asked him for a referral maybe ill print some cards and leave one on his door. Does anyone have any ideas for a better name for my card other than JUNKMAN Willi Will? WWJD ... Junk Dude?

Also was at the flea market in town and a lot of scrappers where there. People come by my house going door to door and scoping street piles for metal. When in AL i had people begging me for a piece of metal like it was a bum asking me for 2-3 bucks. I told them i'd throw them an oven door if i could follow them to the scrap yard (being in unfamiliar area and all).
Anywho thats another story. I was at flea market and was introduced to a guy same age as me and we might be able to make some money 50/50 together. Is that common for scrappers to work together? Seems pretty competitive to me. But im no competition to him. (his wife can lift more than i can")
The guy i met in my neighborhood said he would give me a job tearing apart motors for so much an hour. (I couldnt tell if he was serious) Well i lost his number and some job i took prevented me from having time to meet up with him and long story short.
I have a 4ft truck bed and a disposition to go door to door and this guy i met today he has trailer and bigger trucks lives in a different neck of the woods than me and knows where the best scrap yard is in rockwood, TN. Any ideas on how we could work together or any good door to door pitches for gathering metals?

Appliance removal? appliance recycle? metal collector? yeah none of my suggestion anit good, But wow you should be lucky you found someone that still pays to get these things disposed. i say i see about at least 4 scrapers pass by my street every hour Very common to find and alot of people just whistle at them and 15 to 20 mins later they come out of the house with a appliance on a dolly.

Hek dub, I've seen lots of threads where best of friends couldn't make good business partners, so at least use caution going fully into business with someone you hardly know

I think some of those threads are mine bear. 50/50 isn't smart stay independent build it from the ground up. What if you work 12 hour days and he only wants to work 8? Then what happens?
