I have a question,
If you are cleaning out someones yard that has nothing but scrap metal, various of types, such as steel, aluminum, and so fourth.
Now the question is, if the person let you haul off all that metal and you are the only one loading it up into your truck, should the home owner have a cut in what you made off of the metal you hauled off?????, or should you be able to keep the money you made off of that????
I would like to know so i can make some adjustments when i do that.
If your agreement was that you hauled away and cleaned up then you should get all proceeds from items removed. If you made an offer to pay something then do so and you will have a happy customer that may get you other referrals from their family friends businesses etc.

We did a "cleanout" of a computer store basement and hauled 2 1/2 truckloads of empty computer carcasses to the local yard (2 mile away). To keep a good customer we split the yard ticket with him 60/40.

The last clean out I did I charged the lady. But as stated it was agreed that she would pay for junk removal. Most of it was junk that went straight to the dump. I did get one trailer and truck full of stuff to go through. I think if you are doing a clean out you should get paid for your service. If you are doing loading and hauling of someones scrap they will probably want a cut but they are still paying for your service.
