Im wondering how much to pay people for broken ones and still be able to make a profit after dismantling and selling online.

I am still paying $5 each for them if complete. I deduct $1 for each missing part.
Same for me.

if you got a dollar for every time this question was asked, you could probably retire. does it have a Chinese board or a Japanese, Malaisa, Mexican, Canadian, or U.S. board, does it have a slot processor, a 386 or a Pentium pro. etc etc
P.S. I am now paying $4 or less.
I'm doing $4/tower as well. But will still do $5 or more depending on the level of inspection I am able to do before buying..if it means beating other bids. But free is best!
One Lb of good quality cat food donated to the local cat shelter, per tower with the expected parts inside.
Donate weekly & show them the dockets & donations receipts.

I broke down a Dell in 58 seconds and have it on video. If I can ever figure how to down load videos I'll get it posted. In a good rhythm and all the units are the same type I can average 2 minutes per unit. And yes the point was he couldn't get it done in 69 seconds. And if I ever get an old 486 I try to take my time breaking those down.
The unit I broke down in under a minute was a del optiplex. No screws to remove power supply and no HD. 3 screws, one on mobo, 2 on heatsink fan. Lever to remove power supply then I manhandle it to pull all the wires. As long as hand eye coordination is cooperating, it's smooth sailing from there, I even get the battery out in that time. Oh and a electronic screwdriver.
how much is it worth, I pay customer on avg 28 to 40 cent a pound for there computers, if its missing one part I take off 10 cent, if its missing two or more,, it goes to 5 cent a pound as We know most of the system is plastic and metal.. It works great in our area... If someone has alot of it, We give them a better price as we do with some of our company in the area.
wow at 40 cents a pound thats $12 for a 30 pound tower. Dont see how your making much money there. But if it works for you.
Last time I was at the yard, the guys were on break. We were in line, the guy in front of me had 6 towers, some really old. They pay 29cents/pound so I offered him 5$ each, which he took promptly, and helped load into the truck. I've got about 14 towers now, they are going to be my winter project. Hope to salvage some more too.
You bought stuff at the yard intended for the yard? That could get you thrown out.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
