    craigslist advice

I have started to run low on my inventory, that usually comes to me easily. So I've decided to try running an add on craigslist for e-waste. My problem is, I am not good at writing an appealing add. I have looked through over 30 pages of related posts on this forum but haven't found anything that really helps. Does anyone have a 'sample' add I could look at to get a good idea on what a 'good' craigslist add is? Is this asking too much? I don't want any toes to get stepped on. But I think a lot of people on this forum could benefit from a few good sample adds. My area, on craigslist, has no adds about e-waste running and I could be the only one. As always, any help helps. Thanks

CASH FOR COMPUTER AND ELECTRONIC SCRAP

I get a decent response from this ad.......My prices vary depending on frequency of seller and how much they have but I ship my ewaste and I have to do the labor to get the materials ready to sell so I have to leave myself some meat on the bone

Times are tough and most people I deal with are extremely happy to get paid for their stuff.....The few yards who do buy E-scrap around here don't pay much.........

Weather it helps or not. It cant hurt to try.
mikeinreco - That works well? Good for you, Just straight up list what you want and will pay. I was thinking more on a short paragraph trying to win people over from going somewhere else. Money talks though..

I just made up a simple one using a few ideas I'd seen here(not sure where really), offering free pick-up of computers, printers etc. Only had one call, email actually because I don't list my phone due to worries about 3am calls. The one I did get was a company with 2 large copiers and 9 fairly old computers with some monitors etc. It didn't pay off real well cause I had to drive a hundred miles each way, but it was kinda cool and I learned a bit. Such as charging to remove large copiers ; )

Yep People like money........I hardly ever get a call saying HEY I got 25 computer towers will you just haul them off.......People are hip to the fact that they are worth something but prefer to sell to me instead of using Ebay or waiting for a check from an out of state buyer....I buy from several scrap yards and give them a little better price than the CL ad....

Craigslist has been my main source here, and I did develop a few good regular contacts from it. One source supplies me with 400-500 lbs of motherboards per month. Another one sells me all their RAM and CPU's from the 100-120 computers they scrap every week. Plus I get the many one time deals. Sometimes I also get emails from people who are clueless and try to sell one old tower for $20, even if I clearly state the prices in my ad of $5 per complete tower, etc.

Craigslist no good here. Too much competition and others flagging post and sending nasty messages. I got good luck with freecycle groups specially the freecycle yahoo group.

I have had no luck with CL every time I make a listing someone flags it and it gets deleted >

Aurum do you have a link to your CL posting or at least have a anything written up in a .PDF or .DOC file that I and others can go by when making a listing?

    Here is the link:

Wanted old computers towers servers parts

I was pretty lucky with this ad, only got flagged about 2-3 times in one year, and once I received a nasty email which I ignored. I renew it about once a week. The ones that offer a single tower and are far away, I politely tell them that is not worth my time to pick up.

I probably wont get too much in this area, but if you don't mind can I basically copy what you have there? I might need to make changes pricing wise

What is the size of the population in your area? mine is around 300,000-500,000 with three cities with 15 miles driving distance a piece, just would like to gauge my possibilities thanks..

Ok, so I have used your posting and I have gotten five hits 4 turned out to be not so useful and one which turned into a future gold mine!

I got a call from a guy trying to sell motherboards and a lot of other items the guy had a little over 120lbs of material paid 100.00 for the entire lot might make after shipping 200.00 subtracting the shipping cost and initial cost of purchasing the materials. Anyway I just wanted to say thank you.
