Using a big area rug to lift heavy items

I have done this a few times, if this helps anyone solo, good. this has saved my back countless times. one day i had a 250lb a/c unit inside a house and no one to help me. i pushed it over onto the rug and was able to take it down stairs and out of the house. it slid the whole way and had the rug covering its sides to protect the steps. lol stairs was the easy part.
