Metal Recycling Entrepreneur
I picked up a gas furnace from a hotel today. It's not very big weighs about 150lbs. I can see some copper coils inside that makes me very excited, along with some wires and a little brass in the outside. Just looking for advice on breaking down for most profit. I'm still very new at this but I seem to be getting a lot of scrap lately for free so I need to improve my knowledge and skills! Thanks to everyone for all the great feedbacks

Go at it, best way to learn. You know the metals separate them.

Yup, just start breaking it apart and separate the metals. Before you know it you will know what is worth breaking down and what is not.

Always a good experience for a Newb to take stuff apart in order to gain experience in determining if it's worth it or not. If what your trying to separate has some good weight in it often times it is worth it if you can get it out fairly quickly. Many threads on pipes that have gas or liquid flowing through them will have thread sealer on them and will take some muscle to break free...be careful since there are a lot of sharp metal edges on the surrounding housings that will do more damage then just busting your knuckles.

Thanks guys that's exactly what I did. Came out with 22 pounds of #2 copper, 4 pounds of brass, 30pounds of cast iron and approx 50 pounds of light iron. This was really fun only took about 15-20 mins, would have to say Definitly worth it!
