Couldnt hurt. Free advertisement is always good. I dont have a facebook page other than my personal one but i advertise on the buy, sell, trade facebook sites here in oklahoma.
I started one because it is a good way to let people know what you do. It is free so you can't lose. I am trying to get people to like my page and am running a contest. Like my page and one of my fans gets a $25 gift card of their choice. Go check out my page it took less than five minutes to make. Also print out a slip and anyone you do work for ask them to like your page. Once they do you are in constant contact with a good customer. If they see your posts regularly when they or a friend need your service, BANG "I know the guy."
LIKE my page and get a chance to win $25 gift card.

what is it about liking somebody on facebook?
seems people go to great lengths to get people to click the like button.
it's strange, bit like paying someone to act as your friend.
wonder if these people advertise their birthday on craigs list too, wanted, friends to come to my party, free popcorn!
Now if they said "free beer" then they'd have a full house,,,it's strange, bit like paying someone to act as your friend.

It is important because when you like my page anything I post shows up on your timeline. Just like the a birthday, or someone complaining. So every time I post something about hauling or electronic removal it makes an impression. In advertising it is about reach and frequency. Reach measures how many pieces or people your piece goes out to. Frequency measures how many times they see the message. I have read different statistics it takes about 7 times seeing your ad before someone becomes familiar with your business. If you are not using social media to advertise your business you are missing out on a free opportunity to build your business.

This might help explain the process better and give you some ideas.
I agree it can be a good tool but caution folks not to post so much that you are polluting your clients feeds to the point that they loose interest and turn it off.

yeah, you can also play scrapville
My brother and I just started a scrapping company, D&N Scrappers, and we created a FB page. It took just a few min to create and we really encourage people to like our page and help us spread the word about our business. We figure the more people liking our page the better chance we have of collecting more stuff. Plus it's free advertising. Anytime we post from that site we always tag ourselves so more people will see the post. I recommend creating a FB page
Hey, Porkchop, I just went and liked your page. Liking one another's Facebook pages should probably be a thread all by itself. In fact, I'll make a thread for that!
