Question Help Me Maximise My Profits /w Pictures

I'm New to Scrapping and wanted to get rid of some of the stuff I already have to make room for more . I Rent an apartment and I started cleaning out other Apartments for my Landlord . I started saving any thing I could and separated it ... Most of what I already broke down are Air Conditioners , old TV's & Computer Monitors , Any type of wire or electrical Equipment/ Motors ect. .. I have a few boxes of wires that i wasn't sure if I should strip or just take them as is? or if i needed to separate everything more ?.... In the boxes are anything from orange extension cords and household extension cords , to chargers and power cables, Computer cables and wires ect... All the other scrap metal is out in my yard piling up ...It's not alot but enough to get me started and learn

I Separated most of it already but any help or tips would be appreciated..

    Thank You in advance

    What I already Separated :

Copper Yolkes from Tv's , and Copper tubes from Air Conditioners with solder joints and paint

Copper Wire (from stripping wire and inside TV's & Computer Monitors, Wire from Air Conditioner Compressors ) and Tubes from Air Conditioners

    Miscellaneous Wires

Wires from Tv's and Computer Monitors

    Aluminum From Air Conditioner Radiators

Miscellaneous Aluminium from Ciurcit boards mostly

The silver mylar in the tv box I would pull them and wait till you had a decent quantity then find a buyer. But that's just me,,,

Welcome from NW Chicago. First thing you should do is get familare with the buyers section here, there is a wealth of information there. Separate your wires a little more like extention cords and stranded copper wire may be different class at your local yard, computer wire may be considered "com" wire and so on. Talk to your scale person and get to know them, they are your friend. Also read, read, read, and read, but just when you think you read it all, read some more. There is a gold mine of information here and a lot of nice people, but scrapping and recycling is a hard job. The people here have already answered a boat load of questions and its all still here, just use the search box.

With all my lurking, I would just like to thank all you big posters out there and you know who you are.

First of all the copper in the first two pics. are all #2copper and can be mixed together. The wires should be seperated. The thick power cords should go in one box and all the thin stuff should go in another box. Take the white paper thin stuff out and take all the little black things off the wires. If put a magnet to those black things you will find that they stick to the magnet, throw them in with your steel. Also in the top pic. of wire there is a piece of computer ribbin cablekeep that seperate and there is also an AC addaptor cut the cord off and hit the black box with a hammer and take the transformer out and put in with electric motors. All the aluminum is sheet aluminum and can be mixed together. In the bottom pic. those little round things look like they come off a water *****ett I would hit with a grinder they might be yellow brass. Hope this helps some, good luck.

You might also have one or two of these extruded heat sinks in with the alum sheet, extruded usually pays a little better price.
