I have a massive older model drill that supposedly works but only has a partial cord. Ebay prices don't look promising for a cord-less drill, and I am no repair person. Simply scrap the entire thing or can it be disassembled for other metals, copper, etc? The entire body of the drill is aluminum, if that helps.

found this googling...."These tools are not rare, and generally just not worth the trouble to tear into them any farther than the power cord" maybe I've answered my own question???

Looks like you have two options easy options as I see it. Learn how to repair the cord (which is super simple, or scrap it as an electric motor. Not sure if all yards take whole tools as electric motors, but I know mine does without issue. Personally I'd keep the drill over the $1 you'll probably get for it.

Jump on youtube and look for cord repair videos.
Or sell "as is" on craigslist.
I was going to suggest a way to test it before putting a new cord on it, but I don't want to be responsible for you getting shocked doing it wrong.
