Beginner scraper, need a little help

Hey so I just started scraping, and I had a question, I want to start my copper hoard and I have some nice clean copper from some cable. It doesnt have the rubber coating on it and I was wondering how I can keep it from oxidizing while i store it until I get enough copper. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks!

Store it under a complete vacuum? I don't know if there's any practical way of doing it...

I have considered if I needed to, to give my copper an acidic bath (vinegar) to make it shiny. I remember doing that as a kid with pennies.

In my opinion you are putting to much into this, if you are going to hoard it cover it up with some sort of a cover it stops the copper from walking out with the help of the local crack head that just hapens to walk into your shop.

Well, you might lose the "bright 'n shiny" bonus to corrosion. To be honest though, it takes a long time. I bought some 3" copper pipe for a project, and stored it in the garage. Four years later, when I got rid of the scraps, it was still all nice and shiny.
