A bunch of skippys? forum newbs

First off, welcome to the recently joined members. I try to welcome as many new forum members as possible. I notice only a handful of us do this. Its one perogative to do (or not do). I cant but help notice how many "lurkers" tend to say they've joined years or months later. I know I lurked for a few weeks and joined. A lot of the intros seem to be genuine. But to me there are some oddities I have noticed...

Does it seem that some of the new member posts tend to have similarities? We've had a few "skippys" -for those that remember him/her. It seems there is multiple posters on here. The lingo, spelling habits, influx of members from the same areas, sentence formations are sometimes very similar. Would there be a point to this? other than- Boredom, mental issues, jacking up the forum member count?

Not angry, Ive been noticing these things for a while now. Thoughts? Admin-is it possible for one to have a bunch of accounts?

You can make multiple accounts, lest on most forums you can. Unless they are tied to email/real name, etc. Of course you can get around all that if you really want to. Far as one person making multiple accounts...I've not seen evidence of that myself. Usually they slip up like in the case of Skippy and give themselves up. Don't really see a point either, not like you get rewards for most posts, most sn's.

Course I could just be wrong, or my tin foil hat ran out of batteries....Very real possibility, I buy cheap batteries.

The above post contains humor. End Disclaimer.

The admins should be able to tell by their ip address. That's if the admin has it setup that way on the backend of the forum.

I suppose we all go through times of increased "hello" activity.
There's lots of new people joining in increasing numbers from all around. It might be possible more from one area join one week than do another, and vice versa.
People from a particular area have particular ways of talking, and similar ways of saying things than maybe they do in another.
I might say "where do you get off?" and mean "get outa my world!(haha)" while someone where everybody rides the train may simply be wondering, "where ya from? : )
Anyway, just because two people say the same thing, in much the same way, doesn't necessarily mean they're related ; )

Skippy is offended. Skippy's feelings are hurt. You owe Skippy an apology.

Skippy might not been the brightest crayon in the drawer but he sure was the most colorful.

that was his trademark, his calling card too, he'd "peel off a skippy label and write(i guess he could write)his number on it" ; )

I think that people joining in a certain area in a larger # might be do to scrappers talking to each other. I personally have told a few people i have run into scrapping about this forum to help them in their travels and word of mouth gets around quick just my .02

I about peed myself laughing at that post. It's been a long time ago I read it tho, think it was in a thread to do with business cards. Skippy might be a bit farther left of center then the rest of us but who cares ? Dont stones if you live in a glass house, no one is perfect and don't think anyone, even skippy, should be shot down for that.

Skippy was highly entertaining for a forum troll..an thats what he was..lol. He never bothered me either but he certinaly had a knack for getting under certain members skins..lol.

Tater said it best about nobody being perfect an throwing stones if ya live in a glass house.
