    trinitron multiscan

So, I pulled over to pick up a monitor that I saw in the ditch. It turned out to be a SONY Trinitron Multiscan 17se. Does anyone know more about these? There is only 1 listed on ebay, and its for $145. I took the back plastic off, It has a aluminum shell around the whole thing. Anyway, just curious. Thanks

Found in a ditch, I doubt if it still works, but stranger things have happened

Are you sure that it is an "aluminum shell" ? Time for a magnet test on it. Usually that "shell" is tin and will have a number of thin, tin coated copper braided wire attached to it and going to other grounding screws to help reduce RF interference.

It still works fine. It is an aluminum shell. And a few other large aluminum heat sinks in there. I think there may be more than scrap value here. Otherwise I probably have $5 scrap.

Sony Trinitrons are well known for having the biggest degausser cables.

Fat as a (small) finger & sometimes a double figure 8 shape as well. I have never seen the 'Ali sheild behind the screen' one though.
