Since I usually ask questions. Here is something I have learned about the scrap business from recycling our
scrap metal in my normal job.
The best prices are not going to come from the guy at the scale when you hit the yard.
If you have repeat scrap that you can produce even if it is only a few times a year talk to one of the actual buyers before you bring it in.
There is a big difference between steels. The buyer at the yard is a general buyer and may or may not know this. The buyers handling the industrial accounts they do. You have to let them know that you know it or they will screw you.
Old news but call around. Some yards get in trouble to meet contract requirements to the foundry. They will pay the maximum amount they can.
