I roof about 20 houses a year. The only recyclables really worth handling are aluminum ridge vent, flashing, and the occasional pipe boot.
Don't forget those nice copper roofs or copper flashing out of those ritzy neighborhoods.

I waited to chime in on this one. If you find a facility that recycles them, I am pretty certain that they will not be paying you for the material, but rather saving you the dump fees.

I was shocked when he asked me, "how much do you want to charge me"? I told him nothing (might be a mistake but at this point I'm trying to get my feet wet).
He said he'll give me all of his scrap to recycle just to bring a container cause there's a lot of scrap.
But here's my problem! If you guys could help me solve this, it could become my niche.

I don't have a container or a way to bring it to a recycling yard. Do you guys have any idea's on what I could do? Rent one, find a service, idk? I'd need it to plant it to his job site than bring it to the recycling yard.

Please help me figure this out. Thank you!!
I'm astonished at some of the posts on here. You're offering services you cannot provide with profit margins you haven't figured out or fees you haven't assessed? Good luck to you.

Shingle recycling is similar to tire recycling. The generator (roofer, auto shop) pays the hauler/processor to dispose of the product. The processor then charges the asphalt company/power plant for the finished product. I've been told they can use up to 10% shingles in the asphalt. A shingle processor must check for asbestos on every load. The processors here grind the shingles. Nail are separated in the process. OP should scope out the whole process before jumping in.
