What should you pay for A/C Units???From A/C Contractors

I have got a few private messages on this so were go,First let me say that every scraper should get there certification for freeon recovery easy on line test, and you can now resell the freeon to a recovery company nice money been getting 7.00 a lb for R-22.Ok so buying these units are a good business, for copper aluminum coil units I pay the a/c contractors 10.00 per unit ton,,, typical central a/c house unit. Is three tons so I would pay 30.00 for the condenser unit, the air handler half the price of the unit =15.00 so for the two pieces I. Would pay 45.00 If the unit has aluminum coils I pay 5.00 per unit ton, plus the air handler so a three ton aluminum coil three ton unit would be 15.00 plus 7.50 for the air handler so 22.50 I round them off to 25.00 for both, most a/c contractors that scrap don't want to bother with aluminum coil units, after you do a few units you will be familiar with the sizes of units, there is a tag on every unit that will tell you what size unit ton the unit is,BBut it is in a code,,, the way to read the code is to look for the largest set of numbers, different brands mix up the pattern of the numbers but they are there example you divide the biggest number by 12.You will see 36= 3 ton unit 48=4 ton unit 60= 5ton unit and so on.useing this formula has been good for me,also we will go to a job site and pick the unit up ,most times meeting the contractors crane and take there scrap so they don't have to load it in there truck, easy for them better for me,another service we provide is going to the supply house and pick up the unit and deliver it to the job site for them and then take the old scrap unit.when we do this I do not pay for the unit, hope this helps the new guy's 1956.
