NJDEP Tags for hauling Scrap Metal

Good evening my fellow scrappers. Business has been good & its time to upgrade my rig. I have my sights set on either a 10ft e350 box truck single axle or 12ft gmc box truck single axle. My plan is to haul scrap from all across NJ. My question is do I need NJDEP tags to haul scrap metal loads? I have seen several other guys at the scrap yard who have dump & box trucks and none have NJDEP tags. Are these folks operating legally? Or are the DEP tags only for hauling rubbish & demo debris? BTW, most of trucks advertise that they haul scrap or recycle scrap metal.

You have to look up your local dep regulations and find out. If you are advertising your business on your vehicle I know here in NY you have to have the vehicle registered as a commercial vehicle regardless of size or weight. You also then are not supposed to drive on the parkways here.
Dont know about NJ accept that on alot of roads you have to make a right to go left. i hate those jug handle turns.
