    Electric plug ends.

Well i been saving my plugs for a while, had a ice cream bucket full. so the temp was 106 decided to sit under the A/C watch tv and clean them, really dont think it was worth the effort. just some rough figures, i lost 5lbs of rubber if sold as chopper wire, thats 2 bucks. ended up with 2lbs of brass which will bring $3.20, the copper yield was maybe a half lb, so say $1.15. my effort should bring in $4.35,but subtract the rubber $2.00, i actually gained $2.35,spread that over three hours, not a very good average. But i had nothing else to do, so now i know.

I cut off or remove the brass prongs and then turn the rest in with the cord, as is does not matter if the ends are on here as well.

I don't cut off the ends i just remove the brass and put it in the basket and if i don't strip the cord, it it goes as a insulated.

Yeah decided in the future, just pop the brass out with pliers, leave the plug on the cord, get the best of both worlds.

Sorry you had to learn this the hard way. I was storing my plug ends as well but the fellas on the forum break it down for me and I just throw them into shred.

Thanks, yeah just glad i did'nt wait till i had a 5 gallon bucket full. LOL. But yeah its worth snagging the brass, just wont clip the plug,my yard is probably making good money on the chopper wire. I have noticed others on the forum discussing grades of wire, my yard only has one grade and its currently .40 cents a lb But there also not picky about ends left on. RCA plugs etc etc. I'm just glad they started buying it like that, that came about just in the last few months, before that i realy couldnt do anything with the really small wire.

I have a choice, one yard wants the wire separated into regular and computer (different prices) but ends/clips left on. 1.10-.40
The other yard will take it all together but wants the ends/clips off, decisions, decisions. 1.10

I just cashed in my first 5 gal bucket full of ends, they called it copper content, and was worth .07 cents a lbs. Not cool, by the time I noticed the guy already dumped it. I wouldnt of sold it at that price, I would if tried another yard......6 months of plug ends

Wow, I would have disputed that. Theres way more brass in plug ends than there is copper.

I took 134 lbs of plugs in and got .12/lb. They called it yellow brass. Wish I could find a yard that takes cords with ends and pays decent.

Dirty brass by me is .60 a pound. 7 cents a pound sucks, how much is steel going for?

My yard requires me to remove all plug ends so anything that has gold plated pins goes into one bucket. Male ends from power cords go in another bucket. The ends will be removed and sold for yellow brass and the rest get tossed in with my shred.

I think because in the end, he turned them in with the rubber. My yards would only buy that as copper contaminated also.
