Business question regarding scrapping material from a warehouse or dwelling.

This question is out of curiosity.

I have a neighbor that seems to always have a full trailer of scrap something.

This is a tandem axle large dump trailer.

Rarely does the trailer have sheet metal or iron in it.

The load typically is copper wire, copper pipe, air conditioner heat exchanges etc.

Where and how does he consistently come up with places to acquire all this material?

Does he bid on removing it from the building owner ?

How does he do it steadily ?

You would think he would get caught up at some time, but no, filled to the top at least once a week !

Thank you in advance for the reply !

Any chance of a friendly conversation with the neighbor? We can speculate, but only he knows the answer.

stalk him. lol and if he catches you tell him he has a really sweet truck and you wanted to watch him tow with it.

he probably networks and talks alot of hvac guys and plumbers. thats how i got my last roof top unit. i asked him what was the unit worth for him not to have to deal with it on a friday, he said 75, i said prices are a bit low right how's 50? and the crane put it right on my trailer. i'm hoping i get more calls from that company. i want every single unit i can get and i'm sure you do as well. start cold calling hvac and plumping companies and offer your services. let them know your willing to pay for them not to have to deal with it. but make sure you know prices so you don't end up eating your wallet. if the yard pays 12 cents for a complete units buy it for 10. then strip it and make some good money.

    advertise, and network

remember that these units are paid for and they normally charge customers a recycling fee. that fee keeps the fridge at the shop stocked with beer. because they just dump um in a roll off unit beside the shop, they are making money ether way you look at it. if you can sell a fridge to a eskimo you'll have an abundance of scrap.
