Why is it the prices down in Fla. always seem higher than anywhere else in the country?

We are down $10 to $165NT on sheet iron at the yard closest to me. There is a yard a few miles away (about 15 miles) paying $180, but it isn't worth the gas to go down for my weights.

    #1 ICW 70% is still at 1.60/lb

    car/truck batteries still at $0.20/lb.

And it seems like the closer you get to the port the higher the prices get. That's why I bring alot of scrap to Tampa.
