.25 a pound here untouched. I take all my motors and set them aside while I process all my other stuff and then tear them down when I have all my big items gone. Working out of the family garage is kinda limiting. Just got a second station set up in the basement to handle the circuit boards and copper windings on the boards. Plus it's much warmer inside where I am at.

Bottom line, if you are getting them for free. .25 a pound if you don't have the time to tear them down is still money in the bank. Any little extra is worth it in my book.

Here(KY). Motors are 22 cents lb right now. The y just droped 7 cent last week. If ur already therethan it is deft worth it. I save mine up and when I make a trip to the yard, they usually but my gas. I even take motors out of vcr and stuff like that(much smaller) but they still pay off

If you are standing there looking at a piece of metal that you can pick up, and have room to transport to the shop, and someone says "take it, it's free" and you have to ask if it is worth it, you might want to question whether you have the genius level IQ required to be a scrapper.

Are these worth taking for free? is there a resell value the way they are or do they have to be dissembled first?

    Peace

I buy a lot of electric motors. Selling them as is to your local yard is a great idea and if you have much more work to do just buy and flip buy and flip. If your in a position to save and grade the good ones and resell you will make more profit on them. How many are good. What is the market like and how will you test them under load.

Plus is the extra $$ worth your time. If you can buy them, sell make a profit and keep rocking and rolling do that.

Btw my buyer is paying .32 C THats all the $ now because most loads even export are not paying over .40. Thats filling a container.

Alts and starters are ofcourse worth more. Older usa made motors are bought up by collectors and some certain "frame" styles are in high demand. Contact a rebuilder ask him what he would want.

I get the huge ones from injection molding companies and make .05c because thats 500 buck in your pocket for just driving. Not bad. I bet that if I could test a 100 hp motor and find a buyer Id make a ton more. I think its better to buy sell buy sell buy sell and when it sslow or snow storm work on reselling the stuff for more than scrap value.

    Eitherway dont you love recycling.
