Question on HIGH end power cable connectors.....

I've read through some old threads about gold plated contacts on power cables rarely being gold plated, but rather yellow brass. What about the contacts from a mainframe 220v? These cables cost close to a $1000 new, and I've been told the value is in the ends... They're very bright yellow in color and when you scour it, the plating can be removed with little effort showing a soft reddish tinted metal that I think is copper. These things are about a 1/2" in diameter by 4" long and weigh close to a 1/4lb a piece. Any chance these are gold plated? Or do they plate stuff in brass as well? I'l try to get a picture up...

if it is the power cable going into the WALL, then it is not gold plated....the OTHER ends that hook into the server certainly could be. Now I ge some of those form time to time and you CAN take apart the large plugin housing and see what is in there...certainly could be gold POSSIBLY, but not likely. Gold plating plugs into gold plating, so that is why it would be on the ends going into the outlet....but any computer component that is plugging into another (like RJ45 cable ends) have gold plating.

These cables go from the power supply on the mainframe and plug into another female cable end, that cable is plugged into the wall. Not these ends.

Gold plated? Yay or nay? These are 4" long. Seem to be able to scratch plating off....
