I learned this the hard way...

Tip for newbies and even the pros. WRITE DOWN THE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE WHO CONTACT YOU!

I had set up two massive pickups over txt msg last week, guys cleaning out their computer stores, then lost my phone and now have no way to contact them. I'm really dissapointed in myself. Such commom sense and yet I didn't do it. Hoping they get back to me after not hearing from me for a while but I'm not so sure that will happen.
If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

I save any important contact to my phone contacts, which are automatically backed up to my gmail account. So, even if I lost my phone, I would still be able to get the #'s from the people I need to contact

And I don't have any paper to lose!

Maybe not, just call all the computer stores in your area and tell them you can be there tomorrow. If they act like they know you, it may be one of your contacts. If they seem slightly confused, you can make them a new customer.

Hope you hit the right ones. Even if you don't get the right one on the first try, they may know who's cleaning out. The computer shops are usually in a network and know what each other is doing. I was talking to one shop and found out that they were getting used parts from another customer of mine in a nearby town. I was able to provide them with some parts they needed and established a new customer there.

With my cell phone service, I can log in online and see my call history. Incoming/outgoing. Maybe yours offers the same?

I used it to track down the person who stole my phone a couple years ago. With reverse phone lookup, and a few calls, they were very surprised. They were so glad that they found me to give me my phone back!

It was over text. On my ad I offer people the option to text cause that's the fastest way to get a hold of me. No records for texts. But I did install a GPS locator so if I lose it again or it gets stolen, I can find it lol.

I hooked up google voice to my cell phone for craigslist ads. Maybe you want to look into that too. It will record everything even texts on their website as well.

FOUND THEM ALL. so relieved. Should be a good haul. Borrowing the parents caravan for this trip. 3 large pick ups. One costing me 20 bucks. Guy has 4 towers. 4 monitors and a box jammed with old and current boards. Another guy has comps. Monitors. Boards. Satellite boxes. Etc free and another has a whole bunch of computer scrap. Free as well. Really hopeful on this load! Should pay gas to get out there to visit family in the first place and then some.

I have a binder that I keep all my records in for scrapping and I will keep contacts in there of people in there as well. Another thing I have done is set up a separate email account for CL and scrapping. This way my personal email is just all for my junk mail crap and basically useless. My phone can handle multiple email accounts and then if I am not around, my brother or step-dad will occasionally check the messages and do pick ups for me. I also do use the Google Voice account, pretty handy.
