    Copper Yokes

After breaking down the yokes from tvs and crt monitors what grade copper is this? My friend and I are in a disagreement over which grade it is. Thanks in advance, Dustin.

Its #2 copper. #1 copper would be about as thick as a pencil lead. Much smaller than that it is #2. Even if it was larger, it would be #2 because of the glue (or what ever it is) that holds it together. Some places. May be different, but that is what I have experienced over the last 10 + years

Don't forget the degaussing ring from around the CRT, too! It's wrapped in electric tape: It is usually COPPER, though there are a lot of aluminum ones, as well.

Anyone know what type of metal that is that is around the yoke? Was going to have some shot but the guy who runs the gun was gone to lunch when I took some in. The guy in the yard said short steel, but it is too light to make me think it is steel. Thanks!

    Copper Yokes

Stuff around yokes is ferrite. you will also find small ferrite rings and bars on cords and coiled with copper on lots of electronics. I toss them in my shred. The ones with copper I smash and wIre goes as #2 copper.

Yep ferrite, and don't forget the SS clamps around the yoke, tho usually one will have a steel screw.
