    ice fishing in the midwest

    Hey all,

Im from Wisconsin and just got done with the coldest part of the second polar vortex, and the ice on my local lake is probably about 18 inches if not more. I ice fish with my freinds and given we all are underage and cant drink, we just drink soda, and save our cans which can add up pretty quickly. This came to mind, wondering if there are cans in the trash by shore which there probably is. I remember one day in summer i decided to check and there was a good pound to 3 pounds in just 5 or 6 trash cans. So if any of you ice fish, be sure to check the trash cans for beer and soda cans!!

    Thanks for reading!

is that to help ya when ya can't catch a dang thing?

I haven't been out since it got cold the first time. I just point and laugh at the people out in 20mph winds on Muskegon Lake.

I love ice fishing and do not have a ice house. When it is really windy I lay on a sled and throw a tarp over me and the hole. You can see into the hole and sometimes can watch a fish bite. It also keeps my aluminum cans from blowing over. A buddy of mine put up a recycle barrel next to the boat ramp in the summer. He did not have to sort through trash to get the cans. He is sure someone else was helping themselves, but was happy with what he got.

Ha, well most of the time we don't catch anything. Usually if my friends and i use my brothers shanty after school, until a few hours after dark we just catch a bull head or two, but if we go out during the day we either see a few northerns or catch some. But for the most part, I always try to look and see what others r throwing away, if there is anything good

I could probably drive my 8000# cummins on the lake behinds my old man's house right now... But I'd probably take the 4x4 jeep first.
