Tamper Proof Screws on Microwaves, etc.

Hello all, I'd like to start by thanking everyone who posts on the forum, especially this "tips" section. I have found many answers, to questions I had and ones I hadn't even asked myself yet. I'd like to share one of my own.



I'm fairly new (1 year under my belt now) and only have a limited set of household tools to work with and no funds to buy new ones, so I've had to find ways around conventional methods: One of them being that A HAMMER AND CHISEL WILL TAKE OFF THE HEAD OF A SCREW YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT BIT FOR!

After some frustration, I decided to try it one day and now its how I take off any short screws, whether I have the bit or not. It's simply easier than changing the bit in my drill.

Hammer is definitely the quickest and easiest way to get around those.

Hammer is a quicker way around alot of things

I select a drill bit a hair larger than the recess in the screw head and drill it out.

of course it is faster with the correct bit but the previous mentioned methods do work

Plus using the appropriate level of violence is more fun.

The auto parts store had a pack of tamper-proof bits for about 3$. I know it's cutting into profit, but I just keep them out back where I scrap. quieter, easier, and less chance something is going to knock over my beer.
