    what other small items can you scrap other than Cans.

    Nails? Bolts? Screws? Keys? Are these items you can scrap in Illinois. New to this. Im doing cans but looking for other items. Any tips?

    look around when u go to turn in ur cans...check out the bins of non ferrous n see what ppl are throwing in the shred pile..

    thats what I did when I started out..

    I know what you mean Scrappy, but I hope they don't throw shred in the Non-ferrous bins. Take some time and watch what other people throw away. Then come back here and read up on how to possibly break it down for more money. That's what we're good for.

    I stripped a bunch of household appliances that were going to be put out on the curb on our last free garbage day. My plan is just to take every piece of metal out of there and turn it in whether its non-ferrous or not. A lot of people are saying not to bother with anything other than copper and aluminum but all these other metals aren't going to do me any good sitting on my work table. May as well take everything in.

    Almost everything can be recycled in some way or form and it all depends on what your willing to do. Find a nitch that works best for you and go all in. Some people just pick up appliances, throw them in the back of theire truck and take it straight to the scrap yard and are happy with that. Some would take the appliances home and take them apart and sell the diffrant things and make more money. Some people just deal in junk electronics. It's all up to you. Keys are always good because most of them are brass.
