I second Burlyguy's comment. Don't pay for this. And I speak from experience when I tell you that trying to re-title a boat in TX is a MASSIVE PITA. There's like one place in NE Texas to get it done, it's over in Garland off I-30, and the wait times are HORRIBLE. Way worse than DMV. Then, when you finally do get to the front of the line, they just give you the paperwork you need to take BACK to the seller and have them fill out in front of a notary, then bring BACK to the boat licensing place.

With a 45 mile trip each way, I'd pass... but if I HAD TO do it, I'd charge her AT LEAST 100 bucks to haul off the junk, and then get on the Texas Fishing Forum & try to sell the boat as untitled.

Out of clutter, find simplicity. --Albert Einstein

You can resell just the engine for 300 lol. You should post the boat up on craigslist for like 800 obo n there ya go. If no title then scrap boat n sell motor

Id see if I could get the motor running. If you have a hull, trailer and motor that runs, you dont have much of a project, more of a usable boat! That would be a great weekend runabout for anglers who just wanna get out on the wayer. Even myself, id love that thing up at the lake.... now im excited for summer. Just gotta wait for the ice to move out!
If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

Id say under 2500lbs. If its just a hull, trailer and motor. Motor couple hundred pounds. Id say 350 at the most. Trailer maybe 500. Boat 1500? Im just completely guessing but Im sure the ranger would get the job done. Just go slow and keep space between you and cars ahead. Whats the max tow weight of your ranger?

I'm really not sure, I've heard around 1600. But I've never towed anything with it before.

My 4cyl Tacoma is rated for 3500...I'd think it would be similar.

You have just a ball thru the bumper or a regular 2X2 trailer hitch?

I agree with burly on this one. First, she called you, the first words out of my mouth would have been "are you looking to sell it or do you just want it gone". That's not a bad looking boat but your taking a chance buying it with no paper work from the owner of the boat. The boat has registration #'s on it, you should be able the look up the owner or owners family using those #'s and try to get a noterized paper from them showing you as the rightfull owner. I live on the west coast of Florida and could get at least 1,000.00 for the boat, motor and trailor.

    You won't do 1600 with a bumper hitch, It'll only a 300-500 tongue weight.

not much tongue weight on a little aluminum boat, if you can pick it up by yourself you would be fine for tongue weight, the weight will be pretty centered on the wheels of the trailer. I don't see a little aluminum boat being any trouble for you to tow unless your bumper is rusted out

Scheduling issues and other jobs forced me to put it off till Monday. Trying to get ahold of another truck to tow it with. Mine just doesn't have much power, there's a couple hills, going through a county with bad cops, a boat that's not legally mine, and no light hook-ups on my truck. And she won't take any less than 100$ for it.

I have to say unless you can get legal ownership of this boat and use it as a boat I would run away from this deal. The engine appears to be very old and of little or no resale value other than scrap. I would expect to find some foam in the open spaces of the boat making it difficult to make the boat sell-able as clean Al.

I could think of a lot of other places to spend that $100 to buy scrap. Very best of luck but I suggest you reconsider this deal. Mike.

Do what you will, but I'd pass.

If not, I'd say it'll definitely be a learning experience!

EDIT: If you haven't already, I'd suggest posting your query on texasfishingforum dotcom & see what those guys have to say.
