    Need help for export.

I am looking to export scrap metal, mostly Aluminum 6063, at least 3 to 5 containers a month. I have buyer who has pressure cooker factory.
I am completely new to this business. Do I need export license? Do I need broker and freight forwarder (Both)?
Any idea where I can buy Aluminum-6063 in this quantity?
    I am in New Jersey.
I'll greatly appreciate your help.. Thanks.

Before you even consider doing this, you should already have a constant or very large supply from somewhere or you might get whatever is required (not sure what is) and then not be able to do anything because you don't have enough product.

This is not how most sales focused individuals think. They say they can do anything. After they land the deal, they figure out how to make it work - most of the time.

I just think that 3-5 containers is a large amount, especially if they have no idea where to start getting it from. Also, do they realize the cost, for storing this much material until there is enough to ship? I have no idea about this person's financial situation but to most people I don't think they could sit on this much Aluminum for a long time

We are three partners, we have collected sufficient fund to start this business, also we have buyers in place. With little research, I found this big supplier (Sims). Any one dealt with this company? Any experience?
    Thnx.

They are a world-wide company, I believe almost all of the members of this forum would sell to them, not buy. Thinking about it, I'm not even sure if 3-5 containers a month would be enough to buy from them. I went to sims yesterday, and even this yard which doesn't do much non-ferrous had a couple containers worth of aluminum sitting there.

Ok let's jump in here, first off you are in new jersy so what port are you near port Newark I am guessing, first thing you should do is hire a freight forwarder, most if not all are custom brokers you will need both to process your paper work for customers and exporting. You can ship material in a private name as the shipper, the load has to have a consigher wich is the person or company that the container is going to be shiped to. Most paper work today is filed electronicky today being a new shipper customs will proubley give special attention to your load. Back to your supplier, you being a end user affords you the freedom of paying higher prices for the material so getting material should not be that hard.I would not waste my time going to sims recycling they are to big and would give you the run around and not sell you anything. I would get in contact with some bath room or screen enclosure manufactures that generate lots of 6063, you offer them more than scrap value and I am sure if you have the cash you will get the material, if you think you are going to buy the material cheaper than market price I do not think that will happen.Good Luck.

Maiwand - If you want to know why, you're going to have to put in the work and search the forums for the answer.
