    craigslist spammers

Well, I knew this would happen eventually.

On our local craigslist, several of us scrappers advertise a free scrap metal pick up service.

We all only post one ad and leave it alone till it expires and then repost it.

This noob scrapper has come onto the local scene and is spamming craigslist with new ads nearly every day.

I sent him/her a pm and told them welcome to the scrapper community and told them that the rest of us post as I described above.

Now you can imagine this didn't go over well with him/her and the reply was very venemous to say the least.

I don't want a war with this person-can they be reported to craigslist for spamming?

I know I have to repost every day or so just to keep up with the other guys. As long as he isnt just posting multiple same ads every day, I dont see a huge issue with it. Yeah it sucks but welcome to competition. JMO

Everyone does it and if you don't, you end up losing. I remember when I was looking for international computer scrap, people start flagging me. It is really frustrating, but I know exactly why they did it. I was offering a way higher price than any of them were. I mean I wasn't offering Ewasted prices, but still two times what they were offering. Anyways my point is that if you start flagging be prepared for them to start flagging you as well.

    I won't flag anyone.

I had someone doing it to me and I complained to craigslist about harassment(they were also harassing me by private message).

Craigslist actually investigated and banned the person from Craigslist.

Hmm I never thought that craigslist would actually ban people. Hmm maybe I will complain as well. Good to hear that you took the right path. Btw the same thing goes on kijiji.

We actually pay for appliances $5.00 each with the condition that they are in the garage or on the curb, we do not go into people's homes, I can tell you that that 5.00 bill gets me a lot of appliances, and then all the extra's they want to get rid of when your there more than makes up for the few bucks, competition is good it keeps you on your toes.

Craigslist might ban them, but they can just use a proxy and get back on. But why would you want to wait until your ad expires, its like 45 days and its just getting buried behind any newer ones.

My pet pieve is those that post the same add 10 tomes in a row. My responce is not to read them. You will always have those who will abuse any thing, especially if its free.

on craigslist i normally post one ad then leave it up for 2-3 days. unless it gets flagged! then i just repost it again.
after its been up 2-3 days i then delete the ad wait a day then repost again is what i do.

    Thanks for the advice.

I just want to get along with as many people as I can.

I tend not to talk to other scrappers very much-I just mind my own business as much as possible.
