    I'd go with a nice inverter to run some lights and a drill or sawzall plus plug the battery charger into it for the handheld tools. For the lights use some drop cords and screw in florescent bulbs (don't use as much juice from the inverter.) Or a coffee maker will run off an inverter also, and cheaper than a generator.
