    Whats up with my ad?

I've had an add on craigslist off and on for a couple months now and haven't got a call! What am I doing wrong? I'm new at this so any advise will help.

It may not be anything your doing/not doing but may just be stiffer competition. More people get on here among other things and read about all the "easy" money these experienced scrappers are making and decide that they want a piece of the pie also.

You could try to make it more personable - it leaves you with a cold, generalized feeling after reading it. I'm really not sure how many people respond to ads like this from craigslist; I've never tried it. I see them often though. I live in a more rural area and people are paranoid generally that letting that type of stuff go to a stranger especially. Word of mouth, face-time, & a ton of networking is the best bet for my area.

    Hope this helps!

Don't feel bad. I haven't gotten a response from Craig's List in months. I've had several in several categories. The only reason I put an ad in there is that it's free.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

I think it sounds pretty good. Maybe it would help to say something about wiping/destroying hard drives. It also wouldn't hurt to say that you will be happy to provide references, since we all know that Craigslist is swarming with thieves and axe murderers. Seriously, though, I think the trust factor has become a big deal -- I know I would hesitate to have some unknown person from CL enter my home, even to take away my junk for free. Maybe you could even say that you're a local and have been providing this service for X years.

Also, what section or sections do you put your ad in? I've always wondered about that, because I don't see an obvious category for this service. If I wanted someone to do this, I wouldn't know exactly where to look, so I'd probably just do a general search using terms like "haul junk free" or "old computer disposal." If you include a good set of search terms in your ad, you'll probably get more eyeballs at least.

Change it up, list things you will take, leave computers towards the end. People see computers and think that there old one is worth lots of money still... and that some how you are pulling a fast one on them. State that these items will be recycled instead of landfilled. And as stated many people are somewhat worried about letting someone from CL in there house. And they could just put the stuff at the curb and it will go away.
