would like to know best way to scrap. This old trailer is lined with wood on the inside so cant just take to scrap yard without first removing wood from side walls. not sure how safe it would be to transport etc. any thoughts would be appreciated.

Have someone with a semi haul it straight to the yard if it's cheap enough. Be like dragging a car across the scale.

Have you called the scrap yard about hauling it in whole with the wood? They may want it to use as a storage unit. I know my yard has bought them whole before, at a lower price I'm sure. If they would buy it whole, you could save yourself a lot of time and money by just bringing it in whole.

they wanted to charge me. I thought with the frame weight they could still get a few hundred for it but they said lots of work to remove wood. not sure how hard it would be but if not or the wood i would just get a plasma torch and get to cutting down to flat bed stage. i have been using for my own scrap wood but tired of looking at it. was wondering how much it weighs also notice the rust not exactly air tight storageOriginally Posted by Gravitar

thanks for assuming i had not read other posts. None of them showed pics and I am thinking this one is older than the ones they speak of but i did ask one person that seemed to know his stuff but not sure he comes here anymore as it looks like he doesnt post often. 12 times in 4 years. so still hope for more info, I did also learn that someone may want frame to use in building custom trailer. thanks

no way of telling the wight by just looking at it. Every manufacturer does things a little different.
Look around for some kind of information plate, It may show empty weight along with max weight.
Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.

The real story about these old trailers, from looking at the picture it's all thin sheet steel, no aluminum. These are night mares the wood weighs as much or more as the tin. The floor of this type of trailer is usually made out of 2x8's that are very heavy and just to much work to remove in addition to the trash and costs and time. Not to mention the tow company's bill and the tire deduction.this customer or person I am sure has been told it would cost him a few hundred to remove it, my advise do not get involved its a loser.
