Well at this time of the year many people change out there central
a/c units in there homes, and we do quite a few being in South Florida, so when we hire a new employe the first thing we do is put them on braking down the a/c's.
So the routine is simple when the load backs in the units are looked at to see if they can be resold, when they are separated the ones that are going to be scrapped are moved to our recovery area, once they are drained of
freon they then go to the disassembly area. I know this is a little long of a post but I am trying to paint the picture for you.
I do not and can not micro manage employes, you can tell with in a couple of hours or less if we are a fit for one another. So I let them do their thing, having had many past and present scrapers working for me I can tell you no two do a unit the same way,, some start on the electric fan motor, some with a screw gun start removing the screws others will turn the unit over and with a hammer bang out the bolts holding the compressor in place, it really does not matter to me how they do it as long as it is done in a efficient manner. The one thing that does matter is that all the screws, bolts, rivets, are removed, if you follow this practice you will also see really how easy and fast you can scrap out these units. The new guys that think they do not have to remove all the screws, will be cursing and having a difficult time getting done, there is always a screw or bolt left that stops the process, so my simple tip to you is remove all the screws, bolts, and rivets then the unit will fall apart basically by it self. This is for units from 2-5 ton
The larger units commercial type the tip is to figure out what you do not need to remove that wastes the time scraping them out. Happy Scraping 1956
