Things that you see in the scrap yard that can make you more money!

Well these things I am going to point out to you, you have seen many times it's up to you to take advantage of them.
Now this is not for your large multi location yards that are located all across the country, they pretty much broker there goods to the mills and end users. This is when you are in a yard and you see that a different company's truck is there and they are loading not unloading, I am sure you have seen this, well what do you think they are doing? They are buying that material from the yard that you are in, so if you noticed what they are loading you have just found a better place to sell that commodity. Now keep this in mind you will have to have a good amount of that item when you want to sell them, keep your eyes open you might see a container in a corner with a different company's name, our there is no name on the container but the truck picking it up is from a different company Bingo another place to sell that ITEAM again you will need the weight, not a truck load full but not a 55 gallon drum either. When you call these places ask to speck to a buyer all yards have buyers that work the phones and the computer looking for material and business. There are a lot of feeder yards that sell every thing to the *Big Dog *yard you might see them loading there truck with 20 different items that's where you want to sell your goods, many of the feeder yards are basically in business because the Big Dog yard gives them the cash advances they need so they have the cash flow to stay in business, this is common place in the industry. So keep this in mind when you see a truck that has the sign on it
That says Battery nation and the yard is loading there battery's on it that's where I would be selling my Battery's.
The yards you want to avoid if possible are the yards where you are selling them your goods and they are turning around and selling them to a yard across town.

I attempted this once at a mom and pop scrap yard.. I knew what they paid for alum rims.. I knew I could make about .10 profit per pound on what they bought them for.. I figured if I gave them .05 and I got .05.. it would be great.. one of the owners said it wasn't worth the time... but he may very well have been getting the .10 and didn't want to divulge that info!
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!
