You won't know until you try it.
I used to buy stuff from an
E-Waste place. I spent a lot on that. I told myself that it would be cheaper to do it myself. It was hard for about six months, but after that, I was able to supply myself pretty well (Landed a school contract at that point).
Are you looking to resell stuff, or just scrap it?
Radio was pricey, but I have it for my computer repair shop anyways. I just had a new advert made, and switched it out. Radio worked great for the event.
If you do an event, make sure you're well equipped to handle the stuff. My box truck is an E-350 Ford (15' Long). I filled half of it in our 10,000 population town. It would have been more if I took CRTs and TVs for free.
I'd give it a shot. Just find a spot, put a truck there, and run some cheap ads in the paper. I bet you'll get a few people. I did the 2500 person town as my first event. It was like a dry run if you will. It cost me $100 in newspaper ads (I printed a full page flyer myself, so that cost me some), and about $30 in gas.
I didn't have much to lose ;-)
