I get all of the Tellus vacuum cleaners and parts. They made 3 main models/versions. I'm over 6 foot tall, so I use two telescoping hoses..... There's three of them in the house now.

I have talked to a few people and it seems only the Tellus vacuum cleaners last more than a few years.
Mine? I have had for 25years and I found it out the back of a shop, dumped, plugged it in and found out why..... Somebody had sucked up cat piss with it.... So the bag got scrubbed with washing powder and left outside in the rain for a week.
I then made a cord to fit it, & bought a genuine hose for $60, good investment.
I found a/the wheel attachment years later, that's where the models change, how they attach the wheels.

The only other vacuum thing I get is parts from 'wet & dry vacuum cleaners". I know somebody who does car grooming, he goes thru them quite often, he knows what parts fit which machines so I leave that to him.

    Oh, & the cords......

The thing I found out with 'cord cutting' is, far too late..... That appliance cords are not 'Tinned Copper wire'. They are bare Copper wire only inside. They get a better price/weight ratio than most plastic coated wire.
    So keep it seperate.

Thing that sucks about vacuums is....you never know what the person left in it for you. Cat piss is mild. I have a buddy who does vac's, he's gotten bags full of fleas, other assorted bugs, all kinds of weird ****.

I don't mess with them at all myself anymore..the bag part that is. I don't get a lot of vacuums so it works for me, but yea...I don't wanna dig through others dirty bags....they can keep the cat piss, fleas, bed bugs, mites, dust, germs, and whatever the hell us those things suck up.

But as usual...YMMV. I don't begrudge anyone who does do it tho, we all got a groove, just gotta find which fits the best. An Vacuums and me..don't fit. lol.

Sirscrapalot - What did mop say to the vacuum when it kept complaining about it's life? "Dude! Just SUCK it up!"

Just throw those old Tri Stars, Electrolux's, Kirby's, and Riccar's my way.

I'll take the bag out and dispose of those nasty fleas for you.

They aren't worth anything...don't even bother looking up any of the completed listings.

The motors are easy to break open. And I've yet to see an aluminum wire motor (i.e. the modern washing machine type)

Check eBay for the model that you have. Often the hoses, cords (without nicks or cuts), brushes (clean) and various container parts will be worth to list.

I break them all down. Even strip the wire.
This is easily done. Less than 2.5 hours to get all of the parts disassembled, cleaned. Check eBay first then strip the motors. You'll end up with a decent amount of salvageable parts, cu, al, and bits of shred. (Perhaps even steel if the steel-to-shred price spread is worth it.)
